selfie saturdays: i am beautiful

This week at Selfie Magic is "I Am Beautiful". I think sometimes we get lost in our every day lives too much to appreciate ourselves and to feel as beautiful as we really are.  I know I don't feel beautiful when I'm changing a dirty diaper.  Do you?  I feel stinky and unsanitary.  I loved this week's theme, so I decided to participate.  My husband snapped this photo of me, and let me tell you that in the photog world, this is all wrong.  Standing in front of a window and blocking the light is a HUGE no-no.  But, I thought that it just might give it a cool effect by doing something rebellious (and maybe help the hubs play with settings a little).  Not the best picture in the world, but it looks like I'm glowing, which is how I should feel and look ALL the time.

Wow, what a beautiful day we're having here in So. Indiana! I'm trying to think of things to do with Landon while he's on Spring Break and I'm learning that it's becoming more and more difficult do as the days go on. The clouds were rolling in and little did I know we had a tornado watch while we were visiting the park. Good going, Mom! The sky was dark, the birds were freaking out around us, and as we were strolling through the park, some people mentioned how we should turn back and go home. As if the skies weren't scary enough. We were pretty deep into the park at this point and if turning back were even an option, it would have taken us the same amount of time on both directions. So, we just kept trucking on as planned. I managed to snap a few pictures before I heard thunder. Leaves were flying everywhere, and my hair wasn't doing too bad of a job either. I felt like little Miss Dorothy Gale...seriously. Only I was missing a small dog and some chickens. I began to panic a little thinking that we're a.) going to get zapped by lighting b.) rained on c.) swept away by some F5 tornado or d.) a little bit of everything. We hurried along and made some short cuts through the grassy areas, trying desperately to make it back to our car before the weather got worse. Then, I felt sprinkles...and then a lot more sprinkles. But, by this time, we were at the car and I was loading everyone in. It was beautiful, even though it was extremely windy and dreary with a side of crazy thrown in. Landon thought it was awesome being out in bad weather. What a nut.  By the way, this was Liam's first trip to Perrin.  He didn't know what to think of the water and the ducks.  He was in awe of it all, and very busy studying and exploring his surroundings.

vloggin' vednesdays: guilty pleasures

I realized after I had made this video that I forgot to add fan questions at the end. I'll get to them next time, or if I'm not too busy, I may squeeze in another video before that time comes.  Also, I am so sorry about my dishwasher in the background.  Oh yeah, I used my DSLR video feature this week.  Much better quality, but I didn't realize my camera was that sensitive to sound.  Still learning.

trivia twosday: week 2

Pancakes or French Toast?

I've never had French Toast. Weird huh? I do love pancakes, but I have to be in the mood for them because the taste of the sweet syrup sometimes makes me sick.

When was the last time you had a hair cut?

Truth? I have no idea. I trim my own hair, so by trimming, I really don't need an actual 'hair cut'. Don't get me wrong, I have gotten it cut but I just can't remember when that was. Another truth? Every time I get my hair done, someone botches it, so I quit going.

Wow, what a day! I don't think I've posted this much in one day for a very long time. I can't remember the last time I did, to be quite honest. After playing for awhile on the play set, Landon snuck in my closet and snagged my roller blades and put them on. Yes, my roller blades. This kid loves my goodies. I can't tell you how old these things are. Maybe 15 years? Wow, okay, now I feel old. At any rate, I took him outside so he could burn some energy, and because I didn't want him skating in the house. This roller derby didn't last long. I glanced over and he was sitting at the end of the drive taking the skates off. I assumed he was getting tired and heading inside. Then, something magical happened. No, not really, but it was fun and I'm glad I was able to get it on camera. Landon is quite a character, let me tell ya.

After Liam's therapy session, Liam conked and Landon went outside to play for a bit. I grabbed my camera and found Landon standing at the swings with this look of confusion. He quietly made his way over to the rock wall when he finally voiced what was going on in his head. He says to me, "Mom, do ya think these birds could hold their bowels and poop on some other kid's play set? They must have had some really bad food to poop this much. Nasty, stinkin' birds." I absolutely fell over from laughter. When he was standing at the swings he noticed his seats were covered in bird poop, and I guess when he moved on and saw the poop all over the rest of the play set, he became very frustrated. Needless to say, he got over it quickly after I cleaned his swing seats. He was my happy, excited boy again.

Oh yes, and I am trying to be patient with Landon's loose tooth.  That thing is driving my bonkers!  It looks really out of place.  *quivers*

I am finally getting around to posting a few pictures of Liam during his therapies.  This is his ST.  I wanted to make sure she was comfortable with me before diving right in. I love Cheryl. She's terrific at what she does, and she's also very patient with our little one. She's not a Grandmother yet, probably won't be for awhile, but she deserves to be. She's awesome. So great with kids. Landon was home for Liam's therapy since he's on Spring Break from school - he joined in, sitting patiently and quietly, while Cheryl did what she came there to do. I wish I would have gotten some photos of his PT before she parted ways, but I didn't think about it at that time. She was amazing, too! These women are doing great things with/for our baby Herculiam. He has come a long way, but there is still a ways to go.   Oh, by the way, this is the very first time I used natural, indoor lighting with my new toy so I apologize for the quality.  I'm still learning its potential/limits.  I've only experienced indoor shots using my speedlight and outdoor, natural light - which is what I've been posting recently.  Again, still learning.
